Peppermint Hot Chocolate Mix
This is an interesting little festive Christmas recipe. You may prepare this for yourself, family, and friends, as well as presented in a gift jar, for a hand-made, personalized, Christmas gift. If you aren't familiar with "Gifts in a Jar," CLICK HERE!
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups of nonfat dry milk powder
1 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened
1/4 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 cup red and green decorating sugar
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup milk (light) chocolate chips
1 cup crushed red, white. and green candy canes, crushed
FOR "GIFT IN A JAR PREPARATION: :
A mason-type open mouthed jar with lid
Stir the milk powder and cornstarch together
Firmly (and colorfully) layer all ingredients into your gift jar
(wipe the sides clean before you add each layer)
Use a square piece of festive material or wrapping paper to cover the lid, once its sealed, and tie off with a bow. Add a personalized card with the following instructions:
HOW TO PREPARE YOUR PEPPERMINT HOT CHOCOLATE MIX::
In a stovetop pan, combine the mix with
6 cups of 2% milk
1/2 cup of water
Bring to a medium boil, while whisking
Reduce to low heat
Simmer and stir (the hot chocolate will thicken)
Serve topped with whipped cream and garnish with shredded chocolate or cinnamon
