Italian interior design is well known for its contemporary classic style, called “classico contemporaneo”,  which is one of the most trending design inspiration for luxury apartments and villas.

The success of this style, worldwide admired and desired, is due to the perfect combination of some luxury elements, typical of the classic furnishing like precious raw materials and artisan finishing, with a modern and contemporary design concept, made of minimal lines, simple shapes and sophisticated color nuances. A charming design with no flamboyant, as an exclusive and valuable house shall declare style and status, but without ostentation.  ▼ The heritage elements delivered by the Italian Classic to this trend are:

  • High valued materials upholstery: velvet, brocade, leather, mainly with capitonnè workmanship.
  • Precious row materials like marble and wood (mainly dark essences).
  • Luxury details: golden, silver, or the trendy rose golden metal handles, lamp stems or sofa legs.
  • Little embroidered decoration with Swarovski or silk threads.
  • Some classic lightning element like crystal suspensions or lampshades, but with with no baroque accents.

▲ The contemporary modern provision mainly consists in:

  • Neutral dark colors: black, gray, dark brown…
  • Presence of some design icons furniture.
  • Pieces of modern art.
  • Comfort sofas and armchairs.

Sofas and armchairs are one of the most important element of a contemporary classic living room. A relevant choice as well: they should be large, bold and comfortable to welcome guests in the best way. Also they reserve a significant part of the room space and their aesthetic reflect the entire house allure.Clark, produced by Doimo Salotti, one of the most important Italian sofas producers, matches all the features we desire for a contemporary classic sofa: it is the elegant protagonist of the living room.

A sinuous shape curling into a semicircle gives the Clark sofa an unequalled aesthetic. The quality of the leather structure, also available with capitonné workmanship, is well combined with the softness of the backrest. The structure of the Clark is covered in leather, while the seat and back cushions can be made of leather or fabric.

The back cushions are in feather while the seat is made of polyurethane foam. The Clark sofa resembles a shell with a semicircular shape. As standard it comes with a vintage brass finish tapered metal foot.

Designed by D.S. Studio, Clark is produced by Doimo Salotti, a company that boasts over 50 years of experience in producing upholstered sofas in fabric and leather.

In the following interview, Mr. Paolo Magnan – Doimo Salotti Director – we met at Salone del Mobile 2018, last April in Milan, introduces us this unique design item!
